Unmissable hidden London street art

Explore London street art. From unmissable famous art to hidden gems, discover the best street art locations such as Brick Lane.

London street art

Street art is becoming increasingly popular. Graffiti, originally thought of as vandalism, has now become an acceptable part of society with bold graphics and sculptures telling stories of the world today.

London is especially known for its street art scene. Many popular street art pieces are lying around the capital - with hidden gems also making the mix!

We’ve listed some of London’s top street art destinations below. All you need to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy the Grand Central train journey there.

Brick Lane

popular destination for those who enjoy street art, Brick Lane has evolved a lot over the years and has become a top spot for sightseeing.

Popular masterpieces found here include Stik’s ‘A Couple Hold Hands In The Street’ and ROA’s ‘Giant Crane'. This area is constantly evolving and with new art pieces coming and going as the weeks pass by, no two visits will ever be the same.

Notable mentions include Abraham O’s black and white portrait located in Allen Gardens that was painted in early 2024s well as Swedish Artist, Sweet Toof, lighting up Buxton Street at the end of 2023.

Leak Street Tunnel

A hidden gem full of street art is Leake Street Tunnel, also referred to as Banksy Tunnel; this underpass is the biggest legal street art location within London. With it extending Waterloo Underground station, it has plenty of room for various murals and graffiti pieces - some by Banksy himself.

In fact, in 2008 Banksy arranged a street art exhibition there. From that moment on, the tunnel became famous with street art fans from all over the world coming to create fresh pieces on the walls daily.

Although hidden, this great destination is a must-visit for those who love street art, but, remember this spot is public so be mindful of art and other visitors within the tunnel!

Southbank Centre Skate Space

A popular destination for street art right in the middle of the capital’s skateboarding landscape, the pillars and walls of Southbank Centre’s Skate Space are covered in slogans, graffiti and murals.

A recent grant from the City Hall has allowed for one of London’s biggest skate parks to grow around a third of its existing size so street artists now have even more space to explore their creativity.

With some street art pieces being almost five decades old and talented skateboarders training there each day, this Skate Space is definitely worth adding to your list of places to visit.

Miller Street

If you’re looking for a place full of unique street art pieces located in Camden, this is it. Although down a smaller alley, this street is home to older, yet lesser-known street art pieces.

As Amy Winehouse used to live in Camden, you will see many depictions of the singer relived through art - such as Mr Cenz’s surreal blue and purple portrait.

Two other examples of Miller Street's art include Alaniz’s image of two men screaming at each other - working to liven up the brick wall they’re painted on. JXC’s The Truffle Shuffle is also hard to miss!

The Stockwell Skatepark

Also called the Brixton Bowls, South London’s skatepark was built in the seventies and during this time has seen many bold graffiti pieces on its terrain.

Art can be seen within and around the skatepark and although some of these works aren’t strictly legal, most have been created with the park owner’s permission.

Here, new artists are constantly making their mark with many pieces reflecting the park's BMX and skateboarding culture -  you will always see newness!

The Seven Stars Pub Alleyway

Secret and powerful street art is waiting for you at the Seven Stars Pub Alleyway - a passage that is found within Spitalfield right in the heart of Brick Lane.

Although small and previously overlooked, this site shows how street art can transform and bring neglected spaces to life through new art being painted over older surfaces.
