New car park open at Thirsk Station
A car park next to Thirsk Station is now open which will ensure rail-users will be sure of finding a parking space. As well as easing parking pressure for those travelling from Thirsk train station, it will prevent overspill parking on nearby roads and properties.
The new 50-space cashless car park has direct pedestrian access to the station footbridge.The car park adjoins the existing carpark at Thirsk Station and has the advantages of lighting and CCTV. It operates a cashless system at £3.90/day with additional parking options for regular commuters.
Each morning my drive to Thirsk train station is riven with anxiety about whether there will be a parking space available. It is a great relief and reassurance to know that there will now be space, and at no extra cost.

We have been keen for more parking near the station for years as there have been countless times when the car park has been full. Although I live south of Thirsk, I often have to drive north to Northallerton to travel south, just to know I’m guaranteed a car parking space. I’m thrilled I can now use my local station again. It will be so convenient.
